Supply Chain Management
GWA’s supply chain expertise is leveraged in two of our very large contracts. The two organizations shared a few problems which they had to resolve. Among these problems to solve were inventory accuracy problems, time delay and expense associated with multiple shipments between the manufacturer and the users, integration with existing data and systems, as well as the lack of technical ability to interface with manufacturers about new technology integrating with existing technology.
The GWA solution in both cases was build up a centralized Depot concept. We provide the fulfillment function for each client as we interface with all appropriate manufacturers. The device(s) are sent to the depot, tagged and tracked until needed in the field when we would build / configure to the user’s requirements, and ship right to the user for deployment. One shipment in and one out to the user was the objective – we achieved it. As the technology environment changes with the new technology, ITIL change management practices are leveraged to ensure the Service Desk is aware and up to date. Finally, when the new device is shipped to the user, inventory records are modified on both sides and help is provided to make the user’s deployment experience as friendly as possible. One of our Depots has even been certified by the Department of State as “pouch ready” in order to move equipment to embassy and other DoS offices around the world.
